    • Most I-san festivals are connected either with the annual rice-planting season or the Buddhist religion.

    Three of the most distinctive I-san festivals occur in May, June and July, namely
    the Bun Bangfai Rocket Festival in Yasothon province,
    the Phi Ta Khon Festival in Loei province,
    the Candle Festival in Ubon Ratchathani province.

    All provide memorable spectacle, and see local people at their joyful best.
