  • Mekong River
One of Asia's mightiest rivers, the Mekong originates in Tibet and flows southeastwards for more than 4,000 kilometers forwards its delta in Vietnam.
The river forms the natural border between Thailand and Laos throughout much of I-San, and is noted as much for its scenic beauty as the events and festivals the waterway inspires.

Moreover, the Mekong is an important source of food. The Mekong River is the natural habitat of the gigantic catfish, "plabuek" , which can grow up to more than 200 kilograms in weight, and which is highly prized by local gourmets.
